The Washington Post has revealed a secret which everybody suspected, but which the White House refused to reveal: the oil industry had a major voice in setting the Bush administration's 2001 energy policy.

The White House had fought all the way to the Supreme Court successfully resisting calls for disclosure under the Federal Advisory Committee Act of who met with Vice President Cheney's energy task force in 2001.

The Post disclosed a White House document showing that executives from major oil companies met with the Cheney task force meetings they had denied in Congressional testimony only days before, after GOP committee leaders struggled to keep their testimony unsworn.
