Bush FDA Helped Industry Suppress the Bad News About Mercury in Tuna
While fish in diet has many health benefits, high levels of mercury in some canned tuna appear to be a health threat. The Food and Drug Administration has softened its warnings to accommodate industry, and the industry's lobbying arm, the National Fisheries Institute, comes down hard on reporters who try to tell the story. Stephanie Mencimer reports in the September/October 2008 issue of Mother Jones.
